Korg Triton and MIDI

Hi guys I'm brand new to this forum. I just got a Korg Triton that I'm borrowing and it's a very overwhelming piece of equipment! BUT, for now I just want to be able to hook up the keyboard to my computer via MIDI so I can practice piano. I've got Mainstage, but I don't want to do anything but just use the keys to practice.

I figured I could just hook up the MIDI/USB devise and Mainstage would recognize it like it does for a Korg SP300, an old Casio, etc. But a strange thing happens. When I plug in the MIDI cables, it sends tons of MIDI messages to the computer. Random keys are being "pressed," faders moving, etc. Anybody have any idea why this is happening?
