Volume control on splits

Post by Dave Ferris »

Regarding the piano/bass splits from soundpack 2- Is it possible to control the balance or volume between the piano & bass from the control panel of the keyboard without the editor?

There are a few parameters which are accessible via CC numbers,(from an external synth or controllor)without the editor like attack/Sustain etc whether the individual split sounds timbres can be controlled via single volume message or not you'd have to delve into it,certainly globally they would,it depends on how the SV treats those sounds

I'm not sure how the splits work in terms of control access for individual parts, whether the sound is treated as one program across a single channel, where volume will alter both at the same time or whether it can be split to access parameters in one part or the other, giving you ability to balance the two,you maybe able to do it via RPN/NRPN

Never used the split sounds so will have to experiment with it.

ze bump on this...

Does anyone play LH bass with the acoustic piano, rhodes or wurli bass splits from the sounpack 2 ? If yes, can you control the balance/volume between the two on the keyboard when playing live?

I think that you may be able to adjust the "RX Layer" level to adjust the LH bass. I don't really ever use them so I can't confirm.
I have gear - I think.

I just checked,

Yes - it's still there.

I also don't use the split presets from Soundpack2, but I tried them out, and I think I remember that RX level does adjust the Bass volume. The PDF supplied with the pack also backs this up...
Acoustic Bass and Grand Piano 2. Fixed Split
at D#3/E3. RX adjusts the Bass volume &
EQ
. A.Bass Mutes & Slides are mapped from
C-1 to B-1. Set the Transpose switch down
1 octave to hear more bass mutes & slides.
The Compressor can help even out the piano
sound, if you choose to play through one
speaker (in mono). Adjust Chorus 1 & Plate
Reverb settings to your own taste.
RX level is adjustable on the front panel, but it requires you to manipulate two controls (Function button plus Bass knob), so it's not really ideal for live tweaking. Definitely possible, though.

Thanks Whirly and especially Paul for taking the time to copy that from the pdf..

Yeah I just got someone on the phone from Korg support and he wasn't sure but thought it could be controlled from the RX. He's supposed to ask someone higher up to confirm this and get back to me..
