I'm using a Mac Book Pro and OS X 10.6.8, and when I plug in my RADIAS to my my MAC via USB it doesn't detect the synth.

I've looked online and have downloaded the new Update as I thought this might remedy the issue, but then it is suggested that I need to back up my data before I upgrade, so I can then.....back up my data!!!
I'm going around in circles here

All I want to do is back up my data as I'm planning to start playing live so if anything happens to my Radias, I can buy another and load up my sounds.

It's causing me a massive headache. Can any anyone help???????

This might sound kinda mystic, but...how do you know it doesn't recognize the Radias?

I only have an R3, but with that you only know if it's recognized when you go into the Preferences pane in the editor and select the MIDI To and From sources. Are these sources not showing up when you do this?

What is the procedure for my Mac detecting the Radias.

Trust me, it detects all other devices, but not the Radias

Mine (R3, but on a Mac) doesn't give any kind of indication whatsoever when I plug my MIDI-to-USB interface into the computer. What I always do is make sure everything's plugged in and turned on, then I open the software editor and go into Preferences. The Preference pane in the R3 software only has the MIDI source selection, which is something like "no device" by default each time you boot it up. You need to select your interface in this menu for the in and the out. Once this is done you should be able to transfer info between your synth and the software.

To clarify: there's no MIDI selector in your System Preferences, only in the editor software. Make sure this is set to be using your interface.

Using the USB, editor preferences should be set to use 'RADIAS KBD/Knob' for input, and 'RADIAS Sound' for output.
