KoPro + KP3 - sampling volume level problem

Post by hofa »

Hi everybody. I just bought KoPro and borrowed KP3 from my friend. Together they are great couple, but I have one problem (maybe it´s just me beeing total noob).
I do start from scratch, develop some layers on KoPro and record them into loops in KoPro. Then I want to move the overal sound to KP3 (sample it to bank A) so that I can develop something new in KoPro. That works, but the output level of that sample in KP3 is lower (by aprox. 30 %) than the original output from KoPro. So when I turn off the loops in KoPro, the overal volume drops significantly. I have set the input level from KoPro on KP3 so that the clip led doesn´t turn red.
Could you please tell me, what do I do wrong? Thanks.

Are you sampling (press sample then press the bank) on the kp3, or REsampling (shift+sample then press the bank)?

The most common cause of that sample volume loss is using the REsampling function when the KP3 main output volume is lower than max. Then you get a new sample that's reduced in volume - which itself gets reduced in volume again by the KP3 output. And if you resample again, it happens again.

It's sort of an annoying limitation of the KP3 but if you want to use resampling to build up tracks, you have to always operate with the KP3's main volume slider turned up to full.

Thanks for input, but I just realised how dumb I am - the main volume slider (Level) was not all the way up... I feel like total idiot now

heh no prob :) and don't feel too stupid... the volume controls on the KP3 are kinda confusing at first and, ultimately, that master slider is just useless - if you want to do almost anything without slowly leaking volume, you need to leave it at max. It would be much nicer if that slider was just FX Release by default, and [SHIFT] to get at the volume, since I find I only ever use it for the former anyway.
