R3 midi connection problem

I just updated my MAC to Lion OSX 10.7.4 and now it seems like the computer can't see that my R3 is connected to the USB,,

The problem I have is the following ...
I try to get my r3 to work with the r3 sound editor
I go to preferences in the sound editor to change the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT
but I can't change them they only say " Not use MIDI in device " and "Not use MIDI out device"

what do I have to do?

I seem to recall needing a USB/MIDI interface for mine...that's what I run now, which seems kinda odd because USB would be simpler. I run Snow Leopard. Again, I think there was some kind of issue but I'm not by my R3/computer now. If I remember and be arsed to dismantle my setup I'll try investigating if this is still a problem you're having.
