What am I missing in sequencer
This is my first Korg. I also own a Kn7000 technics and it does what I am about to explain very easy. With the Pa3x I go to the sequencer and record a song using quick record. I play it back on player one and it plays back the same as I recorded it with the changes and everything.
While still in sequencer menu I go to menu and then to song edit. In the song edit I go to delete. I set the track to track 1, I set the event to note. Set the start tick to one and the end tick to the measure at the end of the song.. (This means to me that all of the notes in track 1 should be deleted while leaving all other events in place.. I hit execute and then yes. I then exit and go to player one. All of the notes are gone from track one and all of the events are still there,. I can play the notes manualy with the right hand.
I then save the song to KHD-user in song play. I then go to song play select the saved song and go to player one. Now I have lost some volume. now I cannot play along and all of the events are gone. It did not save it the same as it was in the sequencer. Does anyone have any answers or suggestions?I am trying to have the song play and me play along having the arranger do all of the changes instead of me moving my hands all over the buttons on the keyboard.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. RC Bellotti

Dear RC,
To keep the data as compact as possibile, tracks with no note events are deleted when the song is saved as an SMF.
To avoid this to happen, you could insert a note with velocity value = 1 in any point of the track. This way, the track will not be deleted, and all your control events will remain in the song.
Best regards,
Paolo

Any chance of getting the Guitar Mode for the sequencer mode?

I don't understand what you mean. I don't see this in the book anywhere. It seems to me if a song is recorded in the sequencer it should be the same when it is saved. When you take the notes out in the event and leave everything else in it plays this way in the sequencer. When saved it does not. I don't know where to go to add a velocity value =1. Is this added after the notes are taken out? (Confused and disgusted) Rc Bellotti

RC,
From what tramannoni described its seems you just need to put a single note somewhere in this track then edit its velocity to 1 (via Event Edit) before you save it.

Hello Ruben
I tried going into event edit. I left 2 notes in and knocked the volicty down to one to no avail. I went into step recored afther erasing the notes and added on with vel of one to no avail. I am at wits end and feel that this keyboard is not capable of doing this. I don't know how they can say you can sequence a song and play along with it. If you want to play the melody it is in track one and you cannot mute the track because then you cannot play. I guess I will keep plugging away at it.

If I understand correctly it seems you want the program changes to be automatic so that the sounds are selected to change where you want without having to press anything.
I think this is only possible in Sequencer Mode. Once you switch to Song Play or Style Play you have up to 16 tracks Plus your Live Upper and Lower Sounds which are not linked to the Midi File.
Personally I like it the way it is. If you use Single Touch Settings its only one click to change sounds and I like to be in control. Also STS's will activate any number of pre-set options like multiple sounds (say Upper 1 and Upper 2) Octave Shifts, Voice Harmony etc etc.
If you are making use of the Songbook for your own songs you can have displayed both your Single Touch Settings on the screen and also Other Text information about when to change STS's. This could be as simple as a Text file such as V1 STS1, V2 STS2, Chorus STS 3, etc OR if you have a simple Karaoke Editor Program such as GNMidi you can actually have the prompts highlighted at the right time. I usually karaoke all the words then use the Guess Chords function in GNMidi. This way I know exactly where I'm up to and have the added bonus of Chord Prompts.

Thanks for trying to help me. I now understand that this cannot be done. Your last post is exactly what I want to do. I feel that when you do this you are in control because you put the changes there and do know what you want. I also know that the Pa3x is a awesome arranger however I have been doing this with the technics keyboards since the 80's. Thanks again for your help Rc Bellotti

RC, one of the things I miss most with Korg stuff is the lack of registrations similar to the way Technics, Roland, and Yamaha offer. I got into the habit of using Technics panel memories to make registration changes with a foot switch as I progressed through a song. The Technics KN7000 gave me 24 registrations, each of which could select a totally different style, voicing, tempo, etc on the fly. Working with only four STS selections is taking a lot of rethinking on my part. I don't like poking at buttons while I am trying to play. It is almost a show stopper. But I am persisting in trying to make the PA3X work for me.

I hope you guys have given the Songbook a go. The Songbook to me is the most important feature of the Korg. Find the Style or Midi that suits the song you want to do. Edit the set up with voicing tempo etc put your initials as the Artist and Write it to the Songbook. Edit the 4 STS's and re-Write. Now when you go into Songbook and Filter via Artist only your songs will show in the list. This makes it really easy to choose your songs and the keyboard setup including Tempo/Transpose/Sounds/Harmony etc.. will be automatic.
I am certain that the Songbook will give you far more flexibility than the 24 registrations of the Technics.
Your Songbook entries don't really have to be "songs" either. You could have general descriptions such as 'Ballad with Flute' if you like for Styles. But even if you are using the same style for a couple of songs you might as well list them by name separately so that tempo etc is just right for you.

Thanks for the advice, Reuben. Yes, I use the Songbook with the PA3X. The Technics KN7000 has an almost identical system (called Favorite Songs with the KN7000) that sets up as many as 24 total keyboard registration setups for each song. I can't find a way to get more than 4 STS registrations with the PA3X unless I choose to poke at buttons while I am playing. And, the STS buttons can not choose a different rhythm style. They are locked to a style . . . I can get a change of STS buttons with a change in style variation, but the voicing doesn't change till the start of the next measure. That's too late most of the time because changes of song phrases (where voicing changes are needed) often occur in the middle of a measure with pick-up notes.
