Newbie Q: How to record drum patterns to Logic 9?

If anyone has the time, I would be greatly appreciative to have step by step instructions on this. I've finally gotten Kronos up and running with Logic, using combi-mode. I'm connected with USB - only for midi (sound routed through external mixer). I am not using the VST-thing as of yet.

What I would like to do now is record some of the Kronos drum patterns into logic, and trigger the Kronos kits from there (I really like a lot of the Kronos drums - and patterns, kind of a huge bonus, because I wasn't expecting such great drums).

Bonus question: I LO-O-O-VE Karma. Never used it before and it is just blowing my mind! If recording Karma movements is somewhat similar to transferring drum patterns, please explain this too - and you may receive much good Karma ;-)

Cheers!

Hey, please don't all answer at once;-) I understand, I'm sure you are sick of obvious (to you) Kronos-newbie questions.

Am I correct in my assumption that recording midi from the Kronos only works if Local control is on - which then makes it kind of hard to use in a DAW environment? So the smart thing to do would be to record midi as as a separate task and then turning local off again?

Cheers!
By the way, I just have to add that I am amazed by the depth of this instrument. I have been programing music for many years, used external synths, samplers etc. But the possibilities within the Kronos are like nothing I've experienced. Of course, I've never used a "workstation" before, either. Maybe it just suits my way of thinking or something, but I just see an infinite amount of possibilities and avenues of inspiration.

I do wish there was more easily attainable - and less fragmented - info out there on using it in a "hybrid" situation, though. I would assume a large portion of Kronos users are incorporating it in a studio situation connected to a DAW - and not as a stand alone unit / hub for their studio (even though I understand thats what it's initially designed for). In my setup, however, there is no question that the Kronos has to be the slave, because of my work flow, time constraints, flexibility in mixing, effects etc.

I bought the video tutorial from sudosonic, which I thought was really good - and would suggest it to anyone new to this instrument that isn't a Manual-kind-o-person. But this tutorial also doesn't really go into the DAW/hybrid world.

If you're using Logic as your sequencer, you should turn off Local control to avoid double MIDI messages. You configure this on Global mode where you can also find a setting to allow KARMA to send performance MIDI data.
