Indian patterns for Korg M50 anyone?

Post by pinaklonkar »

Hi,

I recently changed from being a PSR arranger to a Korg M50 workstation user and I am obviously overwhelmed. I knew beforehand what the differences were going to be, especially coming from a one-man-band type of keyboard. But I am okay with the steep learning curve. I am sure I'll get there some day. Nonetheless, I love the new machine.

My thanks to this forum, so many different topics discussed here!

My question - Do Indian patterns (styles, the arranger word) exist that make use of Indian percussion sounds e.g. tabla? If yes, where can I find them, and can patterns be loaded into M50?

That would be hard to find or almost impossible, i dont think anyone did
something like that on the M50. I did some stuff on the M3 but that wont
go to M50:

Indian midi files can be converted to user drum patterns for the rhythm portion. I have converted a whole bunch of rock and other type midi drum files into user drum [patterns for use on my M50. There is a youtube video by Rich of Korg that explains how to convert midi to user patterns. I just did a quick search and did indeed find Indian midis that can be converted. :D

While I am right at it I guess I will post a link to Rich's video on converting midi to user drum tracks.

csteen,

That video actually might come to my use - I had bought some Indian MIDI styles for my PSR-2100 (I have them, if anyone needs them here, by the way). They would play as .STY files on that Yamaha but won't sound very authentic with limitation of tabla sounds in that keyboard.

But maybe I can now experiment and load them in M50 through the SD card and see what happens!

Thanks a ton for your responses.
