Kaossilator 2 workflow

Post by Gary_Rock »

Can anyone here who owns a Kaosilator 2 tell me if it can sample part of its own audio player output?

I've searched the net and not seen anyone mention this.

If this is the case then it could hold the current mix so far in 'loop 1' and a new take in 'loop 2'. Then I could use the mixer to adust the level of the new part in the mix and record the performance to the card, play it back and recapture the mix on 'loop 1' again building risk free layers.

Best of all, all the audio layers should still exist on the SD card at the end so I could (PC) copy them back onto my SP555 (or a DAW).

Also this would act like an undo as the new take would be in 'loop 2' and the rest of the mix in 'loop 1', so just delete 'loop2' and try again.

Cheers.

In a way. You can record any combination of the two loops and a live performance using the "audio recorder " function. The saved mix can then be loaded into one of the two loops. It is not a smooth, fluid process (gets VERY slow as you accumulate lots of files) but it can be done. I posted about this earlier.

The korg SOS recorder is an amazing pair for the KO2 if you want to loop with undo and have each layer as a separate file to transfer to a DAW. The SOS has no loop length limits - basically a multitrack recorder with the ability to set loop points - and it has an unlimited number of tracks (depends on capacity of SD card). You can get an SOS for $80 - $100.

Hey thats great if I can just load the recorders output into a loop button awesome :) I guess that isnt' always a perfect loop unless I get the recorder finishing on beat. But thats ok.

What I want is to keep the workflow in one box so I can carry it around on its own and work out the synth bits to my bass loops. And it also means that I wont lose quality over wires between devices ;)

I guess keeping the recordings small and few and using a class 10 card would help with the speed. Amazon uk do scandisk ultra cards for under £8 so I'll try that.

Cheers for the info MisterP!

hi
i think you didn´t need a class 10 sd card
in my answers @ my questionpost nearly similar to yours i was told that a cheap and slow one is enough.

Hey Wok

Cheers - I have tried class 10 sd cards and slower in my boss BR80 and it made a real difference.

MisterP on this thread says that the more stuff on the card the more the slowdown seems to be.

so I'll probably give it a go as the price diff on the micro cards is so small.
