Remap MicroKey37 keys?

Post by korgtastic »

Hello. I have a microkey37. I want to remap the white keys to play specific notes.

Example: I want to play the key of D minor on the white keys. To convert the white keys from the scale of C major to D minor, requires C sharp to be moved to the C flat key.

I don't see a way to do this in Korg Kontrol Editor, as there appears to be no way of assigning CC commands to keys. However, I have seen the Korg NanoPad set up to do what I am trying to do. I prefer to use my microkey, but maybe I have to just buy a NanoPad to get this done? I would miss the keyboard feel and mod wheels though.

Maybe there is some other software I can use to kind of intercept and change the messages before they reach my VST?

Upon further searches, I found that my DAW (Reaper) has some javascripts to accomplish this in a few ways.

KeySnap is the one that seems to work best for me, in "Block" mode (all non scale keys get muted). The documentation can be found here:

Better this way I suppose. I might end up accidentally learning some scales :D
