what variation

Every time you change styles in the PA 50 it always automatically goes to variation 1. However, in the user styles that I use, it sometimes starts on Variation 4, and in another, it starts on Var 2.
Does anyone know how to set it to start on Variation 1 always?
I have looked and looked and cant figure it out.
