Cubase 6: Please help

Forgive me for being stupid but I recently purchased a Kronos X having only used controller keys in my studio.

My issue is, with Cubase, each time I try and load a VST instrument, in this case Kronos, it does not seem to remember the data I downloaded to the Mac containing all the instrument names.

That is issue 1.

The biggest problem I have is that when I record into Cubase, I have double sounds coming my Kronos. i.e. that what I am recording and that what I am playing. For example, I record a combination piece to track. no problem. But when I want to use another instrument VST it still keeps playing my combo track at the same time.

Please help me if you can.

Double sounds -

Cubase: Menu -> File-->Preferences-->Midi (Midi Thru Activ-off)
