Newbie Question
I bought a Krome 88 a couple of weeks ago, and have a stupid question: What is the best way to set up several voices and/or combinations, and be able to quickly switch between them, live? For instance, I need to play piano for the intro of a song, piano with strings for the bulk of the song, and end with strings only for the tag and outro. I'm getting a little desparate, I've learned a lot about this instrument, but I have to play live this weekend and I'm running out of time to figure this out - I'd really like to be able to play it the way I hear it. In addition, our leader likes to go straight from one song into the next with virtually no time in between, so I have to be able to switch sounds quickly.
You could set the piano and strings up in one single combi and swithch up and down between tracks in midi select. If you set them up in order you can do this for 16 changes per combi.
You can also use the play and mute buttons to switch sounds within the combi and again have 16 instruments all at your command.

Cant you use an expression pedal assigned only to the strings?
The midi filter settings in Combi would let you turn pedal control on or off for each program in thr combi. You just need an expression pedal and set it to volume or expression in global. You could also turn damper off on the strings so they dont sustain after you release but the piano would.
As for your progression through songs, depends how complex they are but you can have all the sounds you need in one combi and stay on the global page then simply dial in the relevant midi channel like the last post described.
Only problem there is you are stuck with the effects setup for that combi.
At best it might help you get through a few 'chained' songs in a set. If your leader is known to take a pause to talk or introduce, you can progress to another combi then. Does it really take that long to change combi's?
