MIDI Purgatory!

Post by gravitywave »

Hi Folks,

I recently ventured into the world of MIDI and can safely say that I've got my head 'round using my X50 to trigger VST's on Cubase AI5 and so on.

I also have a Yamaha synth (MOX6), which has USB midi and would like to use that and the X50 at the same time, when running Cubase, to record midi performances simultaneously. I've tried connecting both synths to my PC (Windows 7, 32 bit, Intel i3), but Cubase doesn't seem to recognise both synths at the same time when they are both powered up.

USB drivers for both synths are installed and up to date.

So, my question is - how do I go about making Cubase talk to both instruments - do I need some kind of USB MIDI hub?

Any advice would be really appreciated. Very Happy

Thanks in advance and nice to meet you all.

Afaik you connect both synths with USB to your computer. Most computer have multiple USB ports, if you have too less, you need an USB hub or extra USB ports.

Both the X50 and the MOX6 and connected via USB - I have a total of 6 ports.

When they are both switched on, Cubase will recognise one and not the other - it depends on which one I switch on first. :)

I'm afraid I have no answer for that ... however it seems to me it is more of a Cubase problem.

Did you try both synths one by one to make sure they work at least separately with Cubase?
If they work separately it high likely has to do with Cubase and the question might be better asked in a Cubase forum.
