Krome Editor / Windows 8???.

Post by bartcarfizzi »

I am unable to get the Krome Editor to even start up. I'm running Windows 8 64. The USB Drivers see's the Krome. When I start the editor WITHOUT the Krome plugged into the USB port, the software starts fine. But when USB is connected... It does not start. I've tried running as Admin.. and Changing run environments... But NOTHING...

Any suggestion????

Be sure to download and install the latest USB MIDI Driver (1.14r6) from the Korg website.

The Korg USB MIDI driver has problems running 32 bit and 64 bit apps at the same time. Check that no other apps are accessing the MIDI driver and try the editor standalone. I can't think of anything else that would be causing the problem.

Deleted all devices... and reinstalled them... Then reinstalled the editor. The computer recognizes the Krome but as an audio devices as opposed to a Midi instrument... And once I bring the editor up, it still doesnt connect...

Sorry if this is getting old but for the life of me cant get this to work... Why couldnt things be like LINUX... everything just works...

You could try a different program to see if it can recognize the Krome and receive MIDI. My favorite for testing is MIDI-OX and it's free.

http://www.midiox.com/

Also see if you have followed the instructions from the Korg Midi Driver Installation Manual. That is available at Start > All Programs > KORG > Korg USB-MIDI Driver Tools > Installation Manual (or for Win 8 you can probably find it on the Start screen.)

:Should the Krome be shown as an audio device? or as a midi device? I am using the USB cable to connect to my usb port on both the synth and my laptop... and keeps telling me, no input devices....

The Krome's connection to the computer via USB is a MIDI connection. It doesn't support audio over USB.

Any solution ever come out of this? I'm experiencing the same thing - The Krome is recognized by PC (shows in device manager, says driver working correctly) but doesn't work as a midi device. The Krome editor sees it and says not connected, Sonar doesn't list it as a midi device. I downloaded the latest USB driver, it doesn't give me any kind of error message when installing. Tried putting the driver in 32 bit only mode, 64 bit mode only, and both - didn't make any difference. I haven't connecting it to a different PC yet, but the one it's connected to hasn't had issues in the past.

I've installed, reinstalled, Reloaded Drivers.. tried several versions of drivers. Korg is no help. I've even installed a new system and tried it... NOTHING. The only answers ive ever gotton was. "Mine Works fine" or try the latest driver... I just gave up.

This sucks

This really sucks because I cant even get a sequencer on my laptop to work connected to the Krome! You'd think they'd make a multi compatible midi/usb driver!

Have you tried with MIDI-OX yet? That is a good tool to test MIDI.
