New to Dual keyboards with X50

Post by Robert871 »

Hi,

I am a keyboard player in a band but have only recently got the x50 as a second board for synths. I use a yamaha p140 stage piano. Is there any way to have the x50 as the main sound source. I know I can hook the p140 up via midi and I can play the sounds through the korg. What I would like to be able to do is say have the x50's piano being controlled from the p140 over midi and then have a synth at the same time on the korgs keys. So effectively the korg would be running both sounds.

This might be way out of reach I'm not to sure about all this!

Sure, you can do that. It's no problem at all. You might check out the manual for the X50, which you can download if you don't have the printed one. Be sure to download the latest version of the X50 editor/librarian software and the Korg USB-midi driver. The editor is the best way to learn how the X50 works, so that you can create a Combi with the two programs you want to use, then assign the piano program to the external midi channel, while the X50 keyboard plays the other one.
