Simple Question for PA3X Style Recording?
Is it possible to auto punch record a style/variation in the middle of an already recorded piece? Say...insert 8 bars in the middle of a recorded piece and specify a style/variation to "Quick Record" in those 8 bars? It seems like a very basic function for the PA3X, but I don't see any mention of this function in the Sequencer > Record Styles section of the manual. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When you record a style, you will have already set the VAR/INTRO/ENDING/FILL length (measures) which will then apply to all CVs for that style element - I imagine that this is why there is no "insert measure(s)" track option in style editing.
Although you are effectively just recording MIDI, the underlying concept is slightly different regarding number of measures etc....
If you are building new styles or extending existing ones, it may be more comfortable (and flexible) to create/edit the style tracks on an external sequencer and then (re)import them to the new style (see page 28 of the PA3X AE manual).
Hope this helps

Thanks for your reply...
Pete...thanks for the quick reply. I understand what yo're saying about the existing PA3X style architecture. As a composer interested in using styles to get song ideas down in a quick and relatively "finished" manner (I've never picked up the knack for sequencing guitar strums) and then build on those templates with complementary MIDI tracks, I am a little surprised that Korg wouldn't engineer things to allow what I'm referring to...after all, the purpose of the Quick Record function is to do just that; Korg just needs to extend that capability to allow "after the fact" punch-in style recording...but then, I do have a bad habit of always asking "why doesn't the technology work like I want it to" instead of asking "how does it work?" lol...
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Hi,
But if you want any kind of accurate result and/or expert features I guess that "karmathanever" suggestion it is the only one to follow.
I know you may expect detailed editing from a workstation like the Pa3X but nothing can compare with what actually DAW has on offer from the editing feature side.
Just my 0,001%

it is basically a balance of what you want to get when creating your style. If you want something fast I think that the internal edit should be enough.karmathanever wrote: If you are building new styles or extending existing ones, it may be more comfortable (and flexible) to create/edit the style tracks on an external sequencer and then (re)import them to the new style (see page 28 of the PA3X AE manual).
