External Midi triggering ARP/RPPR in Sequencer Mode

I want to trigger the ARP and/or RPPR in Sequencer mode from an external midi controller, Roland PK-5, . The local Krome keyboard triggers correctly (underlying track tone does not sound). However, the PK-5, when pressing the assigned key, triggers both the ARP/RPPR, AND the underlying tone associated with the currently selected track. Tried multiple Midi channel changes, track changes, Global local control off etc. Note, the PK-5 triggers ARP correctly in Combi mode, so I do not think that is the problem.
Anyone run into this and is there a work around?
