R3: Use vocoder mic as regular mic?

Post by Function Key »

First thanks to all those of you who watch at these forum threads and take the time to answer users who just come here when they have a problem.

I would like to use my microphone connected in the XLR of my R3 as my main microphone so I get to control the volume with the nob on my R3.

My question is how do we bypass all the vocoder settings si that it can be used just as a regular mic?

Thanks again

The last preset under Vocoder will just capture what you want to accomplish. You still need to have a note held while passing sound through your mic.
Korg R3, Roland SH-201, Roland MC-909, Novation Mininova, Novation Impulse 49, Korg EMX, and a bunch of VSTi's

There should be a button on the lower tier of the soft buttons that allows Audio-in thru. If you turn on the arpeggiator you can push the latch button so you don't need to hold a key down, and maybe turn the arp resolution up.

If you're making your own vocoder patch, when you've got the vocoder button blinking there's a variable called something like DirctLvl that adjusts how much of the dry input will go through. I don't even think this needs to have a key held down either. What's more, when the vocoder key is blinking, use the Knob Assign shift-function and you can assign one of the four knobs to this DirctLvl variable to have easy access to it. Try using effects on your voice!
