Basic Question

Hi everybody, i have a basic question. How may I use analog synth sounds on my own production? I have found sounds of flute, bass and other stuffs, but there are in a defined pattern (E.House1 i think) but just in synth part 3. When i use another synth part only can move wave form. Is that cause is a defined pattern? If i clean all patterns, may i select synth sound like i change drum sounds? Thanks for help
