Assignable Knobs to Control Volume on X-50

Post by Ryham »

Hi.

I'm trying to adjust my assignable knobs in Combi mode to change the volume of individual timbres on the X-50.

I've tried setting each of the assignable knobs to "volume cc#07" and then unchecking all the timbres I want to be omitted for each knob. However, whenever I try doing this, turning one knob changes the volume for ALL of the timbres, and not just the ones I select.

Please help? Thanks!

You can get it to work for two timbres by using 'volume' for one and 'expression' (which is actually intended as a realtime volume control in the MIDI standard, not 'volume') for the other.

To use more you'll need to modify the program to make it respond to some other CC or the knob controller itself.

The reason for this not working as expected as architectural. The MIDI filter doesn't actually tell the timbre to listen to Knob3, but tells it whether or not to listen to the message that Knob3 sends out. On the controllers page you are telling the knob what message to send the sound engine, so by setting them all to Volume (or any other parameter), there is no way to differentiate them.
