How to filter incoming midi volume?
The answer is you can't, but I'm asking anyway. I am using a Roland GR-1 guitar synth with my Triton, and would like to control the volumes independently (without twisting knobs). Changing the volume on the GR-1 also changes the volume on the associated Multi tracks. Neither one seems to suppress or filter cc#7 (not ever 'Other CC's). Is there a magical solution? Besides MidiSolutions router - I have no money.

I haven't had to deal with anything as specific as this yet, but I'm assuming you've tried the midi filter page in a combi?
Additionally, there may be some filter options in the global menu as well, though I think those are mostly sysex and PCs andsoforth.
EDIT:
And if you're handy with a soldering iron, you can get a midi processor for 80 bucks instead of 150 from http://mutable-instruments.net/midipal

How to filter incoming midi volume?
Multi, not Combi (need 16 channels and the Ripper). Nothing Global, nothing in Midi filter options. I guess my basic problem is I need my Triton to do everything I want. Maybe I should upgrade to something more modern, such as a Hammond Novachord.

FractalJ, you're Triton is in Multi mode and you're trying to discretely control volume changes for individual tracks is that what you're trying to do???

I'm trying to not change volume for the six tracks controlled from a guitar synth MIDI out (each string has it's own MIDI channel). The volume pedal on the guitar synth sends cc7 to each channel. I want to use the pedal for just the g-synth, without also changing the volume on the Triton. Such as play a chord on the guitar which is sounded/arpeggiated using the Triton, then fade in a string pad sound on the g-synth. But can't do that because the Triton tracks fade in with the g-synth.

Did you try disabling the midi filter on TritonR?
Works on my TritonR.
Give it a try and report back.

Solution Found!
In case this helps anyone else, I stumbled upon a fix. I disabled realtime control #1, and that did it. RT's 1/2/3/4 were for volume/delay/reverb/pan on Ch1 (not Ch11 which is what I was concerned about). I was hearing delay/reverb (but not volume/pan) on 11 - killed all RT influence on guitar synth. So, never give up on an impossible quest! I'll show myself out.
