Trinity sounds for Triton?

Post by mwarsell »

Is it possible?

I tried to load them but Triton says "file unavailable" or something,

No it's not possible to load Trinity sounds into the Triton. Different synth engines.

As stated - no cross-platform compatibility. Trinity and triton are very similar but different.

Having said that, it is possible to come quite close to trinity sounds with a triton since so much of the architecture is similar. You'd have to make allowances for tritons larger rom for example because the sound sample you want would almost surely have a different location. The structure and detail of how each sound is routed is also different; look at the effects sections and you'll see what I mean - way more choices of insert and master effects with triton.

If you started with a listing of parameters for the trinity and set them up in the triton where each parameter belonged the result would be a very close copy of the trinity's sound.

So the bottom line is that attempting to clone your trinity sound is a labor of love. For a few essential sound that you "gotta have" it is possible, provided you have a trinity as a reference.

A somewhat easier process applies to hand-copying combis. Trinity has pretty simple combis, which can be set up without too much fuss once you find sounds that are similar to those of the original combi. You actually likely to have several good choices for each voice given the triton's bigger sound palate which includes GM and possibly EXB and MOSS sounds as well.

Ya. Tended toward a very Bwitish understatement there.

Still holding on to my Trinity cuz there's a couple of sounds that I haven't yet bothered to try to clone yet.

I swear that here are sounds on my Trin that are better than the Triton Extreme... I mean I somehow stumbled into a really good sax (inconthievable!!) and a couple of big orchestral sounds that I know I'll really miss if I ever let it go.
