Korg TR88 Pitch Bend

Post by SlipKnoTCraig133 »

The X axis of the joystick does not respond even after doing a complete global reset. What is causing this, and how do I fix it? How much would it cost to fix it? I got the keyboard in 2009, and I never dropped it or spilled anything on it. I first noticed the pitch bend wasn't working about two weeks ago.

I had this problem, and it was a snapped cable to the pitchbend on the inside. The way it is designed requires the cable to move about a bit.

After having it repaired once, it broke again. This time the actual PCB inside the joystick was apparently broken.

Each time cost me about £20 at a local repair shop.

Additional symptom I noticed was that the pitch bend would not operate on its own but somehow became linked to the damper (sustain) pedal, probable due to floating ground voltage.

Thanks for the response. That's interesting that you got it fixed for that low, because the places I've been calling have been telling me that they would charge from $50 to $90 just for a diagnostic. When I hear your story, it sounds like I'd be getting ripped off. These were the places that were mentioned as authorized service centers on the korg website. Did you take yours into a place that was listed on the korg website, or was it somewhere different? Did you go through the same process of talking to places saying that it would cost much more before finding a place that charged 20 euros?
