Wavestation EX REBOOTS itself giving pulses over the audio

Post by kuifje »

Hi there!

My Wavestation REBOOTS / rebooting itself and gives pulses over the audio when doing so.

I recently took back in use my old Wavestation which I haven't used for a couple of years.
- I changed the internal battery since it gave a "battery low" message.
- I also did a 're-init' of the RAM banks.
- When I open the Wavestation I can't find any leaked resistors or other strange things. I always handled my WS with a lot of care and stored it safe. Not heavy used either.

On this forum I found about 3 similar topics:
1.) http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... avestation
2.) http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... avestation
3.) http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... avestation

Possible issues that are mentioned that might cause this problem are failing capacitors, filter capacitors in the power supply..

However, I could not find any post of somebody who is been able to really fix this problem. Would be nice to hear back if someone has been to fix this problem and let me/us know HOW!! :-)

Diagnoses problem

Post by kuifje »

Hi, I have brought my Wavestation to a specialized keyboard/synth technicians. According to them the problem is that there's something wrong with the MAINBOARD of the synth.. Since this part is not produced/supplied anymore they couldn't do anything for me to fix it…. :-(
