Move out Kronos x---TYROS 5 movin IN

Post by NETWORK1 »

Bought the Kronos x 73 key about 5 months ago ,and after 2 months started noticing problems ,
like the classic |ERROR WRITING TO MEDIUM |

Sent it back to korg , it came back and functioned correctly for about 2 months,
Now i, got the same error messages again,
which means nothing can be saved, ,or basically do anything, that involves the Hard disk.

Karma started missing notes , when combined with other karma patterns.

---------------

So while it goes back to the factory , iv decided to buy the TYROS 5
It sounds so R.E.A.L.!

I think i made a big mistake with the Kronos , and will have to sell it at a loss
but like a car that keeps breaking down on the highway....sooner or later ,
your gonna be sick of it.

Playing and programming the TYROS 5 , is a DREAM

Completely different product. If you're happy with the Tyros I can understand the Kronos really isn't your thing. Hope you don't lose too much on it. Good luck and enjoy your new purchase!

thanx Sander.

Your soooo right, i dont want a replica of the Kronos, in any way shape or form, even if they brought out a 15 inch touch screen .

In my opinion , compared to the TYROS 5 , the Kronos is:
A Ferrari with the HANDBRAKE ON

you use a lot of energy, .................but you dont get far.
its actually kept me STUCK....im no further forward ,then i was 5 months ago.
I FORGOT what music was all about.

yes, thats s quite a comparison.

Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable using all those backup tracks on a Tyros. Its just not for me in any way.

i like the challenge of the Kronos, able to put my own spin on tunes.

The Backing track Accompaniment, is similar to the kronos
Karma - Drum - Feature-Accompaniment
you can use it, or lose it, its optional.

but the tyros Backing track Accompaniment is a lot more flexible, and intuitive.

I hope for your sake , that your Kronos remains STABLE
in the years to come.

but there's still no 88 keys Tyros  I can still hear masked but audible looping . Yamaha have a strange policy ( why there's no piano details adjustments in CP4 family , like in CP1 family )
are there realistic staccato in all Tyros big pianos ?

im sorry ,iv no idea
im not a huge piano fan , and the kronos piano is starting to sound like
the old M1 piano, where EVERYBODY uses it,
and therefore it begins to sound to FAMILIAR .
Familiarity breeds contempt ?

How very true !

In fact, I've noticed that your posts on how bad the Kronos is are becoming very familiar indeed.

Enjoy your Tyros 5 and wax lyrical about it, but it's time to move on now.

:D Hy Network1 !

I was a bit confused by reading your complaining.
See, you simply cannot compare the Kronos X with the Tyros or the PA3X.
Not because one would be better or not as the other but by different needs.

If you now say that the Tyros is the better choice for you , than you should have looked from the very first moment on to buy a Entertainer-Keyboard. The Kronos never were a Entertainer Keyboard.

And... i have to say that i was able to hear the difference between Tyros and PA3X -- live --. If i would have had the 3.400 Euros, i would definitely prefer the PA3X than the Tyros.
To me, the PA3X sounds much more rich and natural and real than the Tyros.

But thats just my opinion.

I am glad that you now are happy with your product.

My take on it is that the Tyros backing tracks are intuitive (it's an arranger keyboard - you push the button and they play) and not very flexible - you get the styles that are pre-programmed...while KRONOS Karma is much more flexible (you can use it for custom backing tracks and all kinds of other things) but not very intuitive - you have to spend a LOT of time with the Karma software and its very difficult 371-page manual to make your own custom GEs / backing tracks...I've got my KRONOS providing custom arranger-type accompaniment in small-group jazz styles that I like, but it sure took a long time to get there...

Both instruments sound very good...if the preset Tyros styles give you the acompaniment you need, great; if you need other kinds of accompaniment (less conventional, maybe) and can put the time in to learn Karma, the KRONOS may be better...

I couldn't do half the things I do on the Kronos on a Tyros. Conversely, there are many things the Tyros does that the Kronos doesn't. That doesn't make one better than the other, it merely makes them better for certain purposes. I'm glad Network1 found something that suits him better. That the Kronos doesn't do it for him is understandable. I don't agree with the derogatory comments though.

Thank you for your kind message William.
im used to be kicked , when im down, and MY Kronos does a great job at doing that.

i was under the illusion .........|IT COULD NEVER HAPPEN TO ME |.

Well it has for the 2nd time, which means repacking, arranging U.P.S. pick up & Delivery, approx 1-2 months in the repair-Bay.

Korg returns telling me like last time , that they couldnt find anything wrong with it

perhaps it was a bad dream, and i imagined it ?

-------------------

But I would be interested to hear about the faults that you heard about on the TYROS 5 please William.
are they recurring faults that the majority of users complain about ?

i can only see 3 reviews on the Yamaha website .

http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical- ... mode=model

I wish this was an OFFICIAL KORG FORUM.
