I recently bought a second-hand Korg NS5R, and was interested to find that it could originally be dealer-upgraded using a Yamaha DB51XG card (making it equivalent to an NX5R, I believe). Coincidentally, I have an old DB50XG card, which I believe is almost identical to the DB51XG.
Does anyone know whether the DB50XG would work in the NS5R?
Edit: Just found http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... ght=db50xg, which seems to indicate that it will.
I've been unable to find any documentation on fitting option boards (presumably because it was a dealer-fitted option). Before I remove the rather large number of screws in the case, any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
David

I tried this a couple of weeks ago. The card was not recognized. I suspect that the NS5R would need to be upgraded with NX5R firmware. When I learned more about the NX5R and how limited its use of the XG card was, I decided it was not worth it. You can read more in the SOS review at:
