Hello - new to the forum.
I just picked up a TR88 to replace my N1. I noticed that when you go to combi on a piano patch and the second layer is strings, the piano volume drops a lot.
Is there a way to program the combi volume levels to the same levels as program mode? This would really help at gigs.Thx.

Levels change because of differences in the insert effects and master effects.
The way to make sure they're equal is o make them identical for the program and combi. You should see a "copy effects" button in the pull down menu when you access the insert effects page of the combination. You'll want to copy from the correct location so make sure you know what it is and that you're copying from the correct bank and from program.
This will allow you to duplicate the effects of the program when you move it to combi mode -- you'll want to look at both to determine if the effects routing is the same; you may also need to reconnect (route) the piano to the effects and the effects to each other.
When you add a second timbre like strings, they can be "dry", Master FX only, Insert only (by zeroing send to MFX) or insert and master. Unless there's an open IFX slot, you may want to route strings into the piano chain - you can do this at any point in the FX chain. Experiment with that. You may not be able to put all of the FX of the original program on a secondary instrument so you need to think about which is the most important for the characteristic sound.
