Wavestation - parameter saving / recall in Ableton

Post by matt_n »

Hi all,

Been doing a lot of work with the Wavestation VST lately. Lovely synth, but the labyrinthine system for saving presets (essentially having to save EVERY wave sequence / patch / performance and then externally save the FXB of the RAM every time you make a change) is a bit of a workflow breaker…

Can anyone confirm whether the Wavestation works like all other VSTs I use in Ableton i.e. when I save the live set, all plugin parameters are saved with the Live set and recalled when I open the set irrespective of whether I’ve saved them into the Wavestation’s internal system? Can I build a patch from scratch (I use a blank INIT bank as a starting point) and have it saved directly into the Live set?

Basically, I want to avoid losing any changes to patches when I shut the Live set, not so bothered about saving everything into the plugin’s internal memory. When I’m done with a track, I’ll generally make presets out of any sounds I like, but won’t generally do this as I go. Is this how the Wavestation works or do I need to be paranoiacally saving every time I tweak a parameter?

Thanks!
Matt
