New electribe v1.03 bug voice stealing

Post by darenager »

Even with 5 drum sounds playing I am getting cymbals cut short, and no they are not in alt mute groups. Also having chords playing then muting them results in a few seconds of the freed up voice being not available for other parts.

Funny thing is I do not remember these bugs being on 1.0, although I updated to v1.03 after a few hours of getting it.

Are you giving any parts priority in th eedit menu ? Priority parts will sound-on unless you give priority to too many parts.

I have tried doing that, and to be honest it prevents it most of the time, but on sounds where priority is not set still getting some (seemingly random) dropouts, even though I am nowhere near the polyphony limit.

Maybe I should reflash it, to see if something got corrupted.

I have experienced the same thing when only using 10 parts & then adding an 11th one, i get stuff like a snare missing a beat or the snare & one other part. Must be honest, when it happens i stare at the thing & wonder wtf is happening !

Here's that scenario. Parts 9,10,11,12,13,14 - Mono, normal priority. part 1, mono - high priority. Parts 5 & 6 both the same part but panned opposite, high priority.

That's 9 parts, 6 normal priority & 3 high. Then added 1 more part, number 7. That's when i started getting drop outs in beats. I changed that No7 part to mono & all worked again..... It's a freaking wierd one alright..... Are we missing a trick / feature ?

Certain synth parts use more voices, like the dual ones for example, I wonder how many voices the unison oscillators use, also fx and filters are factors, the weirdest thing is that some of the dropouts are happening on very simple 5 drum voices with nothing else, yet busier and more complex stuff seems to be fine, sometimes....

You can select mono poly and poly 2 for the parts. Maybe that adds up instead of the parts itself ? Priority would be for processingpower i guess

Maybes the poly limit has been dropped to put more power into the gap change issue?

This seems like a confirmed bug. Hopefully a lot of these will be squished in the new year. Do you who own the new electribe think these are completed units or are do you think they were rushed or are just flawed?

I feel they could have been a bit better in some areas especially since they actually lack some features the last models had. I like the sound & the mix from this machine, ilke the waves & the drums. There are not many instrument patches which i find disappointing, would have liked a sitar, more brass, harmonica or melodica & a few more.
Some extra features could have made workflow easier like for example a shift mute/unmute with silent part select like the older tribes. Also the solo feature is one way only. On the esx/emx you could shift solo & then shift unsolo back to what was previously unmuted. I don't like that you have to be locked in a mute mode just to perform mutes, you can't be playing triggers or keyboard pads & mute stuff at the same time. When you're locked into 4 bars & can only motion one part at a time it's very limiting unlike the old song mode where you could overdub as often as you liked. That gave more diversity & scope for dimention over a longer mix. If the pattern change was properly seemless i could find some longer mix workarounds, but it's not reliably seemless. In my opinion the machine is a bit half-arsed & i'm finding i have to find a use for it that i wasn't expecting to have to find. In other words, it's not much good for my dub style tunes but i can do a different style to suit the machine, a compromise.
