Korg Kronos 73 case

Post by Freyjathecat »

I'm in the US and am looking for a case for my Korg Kronos 73. I've seen this topic discussed numerous times, but can't seem to find a definitive answer. Anyone in the US have a Korg Kronos 73 and can you suggest a case for this? I really don't plan on flying with this thing but I am looking for something with great protection when travelling.

I have a Kronos 73X and I got this case from Sweetwater and I have no complaints. Other than the 2 of them together are a little on the heavy side. The case model is:SKB 1SKB-R5220W - 76-Key. Good luck

Hi Freija,

I bought the Gator case for my Kronos 73, GKPE-76D model. I got it almost new from another keyboard player and he gave me a great deal.

The case was a little larger than the keyboard but with the foam included the keyboard fit very well and was well protected. It is a serious and well built case.

The 2 of them together were very heavy though. In the long run it became a pain to take the Kronos to gigs.

I ended up trading the Kronos 73 for a Kronos X 61. I also carry a much lighter 73keys weighted-keyboard as a controller. But I can literally carry one in each hand. I am very happy I did the trade, cause it also gives me the option to have light keys for organ and synths.

Good luck,

T.

I also use the gator case(I don't think you need the D?):

Overall, it's a great case and fairly light for a hardshell. That said, the Kronos 73 in this case is a PIG at 2AM! Usually 3 of us lift it for the final hoist into the truck (It sits towards the top of the pack).

If you don't gig a lot, I would at least consider the semi-rigid cases. Though if you do, worth it.

DON'T buy the Gator GKPE 76.
It only has one handle which means you have 30+Kg in one hand!
That is really bad for your back.
I bought one and sold it quickly afterwards.

I don't know why Gator did this when the previous case - the GK276 was perfect. It has two handles along the top, offset, so you can spread the load yourself or with a friend!
Luckily I found one for my K73 and you might be lucky too:

When was this? I ordered one years ago with the Kronos and yes it had one handle. I called them like "WTF?" and they sent me a 2nd handle to install FOC. Judging by the website this is now standard.

I think you misread - the GKPE 76 has a handle on one END and one on TOP.

The GK276 has two ON TOP.

Dude, you can clearly see the 3rd handle here:

The one by the wheels is the NEW handle!

3rd handle? WTF are you talking about!
Unless you have very long arms, a handle on each end is no use to you if you are carrying alone

Hello

I had for my NS2 the djk-kb76w. Three handles with wheels. A very good case.
I bought it from eBay.
