Top 8 Proposed Sound Chages for electribe 2

Post by Ted3000 »

Here are my top 8 proposed changes to the electribe 2's synth and effects engine.

1. Make Glide ONLY affect legato notes and step-programmed ties in Mono 1 and Mono 2 mode. (Poly glide is a mess, and you can't program a 303 slide if Glide affects every note.)

2. Give the insert effects a second Shift Knob parameter. They really need them - especially distortion and short delay.

3. Improve voicing control and mix level on effects like Tape Delay, Radio EQ, Overdrive, Reverbs, etc. (See the effects guide and review on a previous post for specifics.)

4. Ensure that MIDI/Sequencer effects like Odd Stepper return the sequence to their proper position once effect is released.

5. Adjust filter types so that they have closer volumes, and remove the volume drop that happens with increasing resonance. (Currently some filters are much softer than others, and all of them attenuate signal as resonance is added.)

6. Give the MG filter highpass and bandpass modes. (The TB-303 filter never had a high or band, yet the Moog ladder filter did.)

7. Apply internal slew or interpolation to knob movement. (For example, currently sweeping the edit knob on a sync oscillator is highly stepped.)

8. Adjust anti-aliasing so they don't affect audible frequencies so much. (Currently it bites into things like filter res and overtones too much, making things like the Acid Filter behave too mild.)

I'm celebrating Opposite Day, so as far as sound changes..

1. More vocal samples. Many many more. Suggestions : burps, sneezes, snoring.

2. More reverse samples. I need more non-percussive novelty noises in case I get a job programming demos.

3. Reverse vocal samples. The best of both worlds!
