I'm a newbie on Korg Krome and also Korg Keyboards. I'm mostly a pianist who enjoys improvising a lot and now I have decided to migrate to keyboards and some synthesizers and workstations. I have always used Yamaha keyboards but my friend recommended to me to buy a Korg Krome to get started with some studies and improvising and sequencing, etc.. I am very interested to know what is the sound on this Korg Krome 61 that the guy plays the Indiana Jones theme.. could you guys tell me which sound he uses in this video to play that song?
I tried to follow your suggestions and yep.. the sound was quite similar to the one the Korg guy was demonstrating in the video above but the Drum Track is a way different on my Korg Krome 61 from the one he placed in his video. I was seeing in the video as well that he was using something as "Bank D - Indy" sound.. what does that mean? Also I've noticed that he has sequenced all of the drums and sounds because he was editing the layers and things like that in the video.. I'm sorry but I'm kinda a newbie about sequencing and studying these things thats why I bought my first synthesizer for me to study and learn a bit more.. I'm mostly used to play pianos and digital ones.. or using basic sounds like Strings, Organs, EP's, etc... lol.. how can I get this drums from that video? Is it available in another library on the keyboard?
That would be a combi on bank D rather than the string program, which may have been used to build the combi (that could account for the similar sound but with a different drum track). There's a possibility that it's a custom sound. If that (Indy) is not in your factory download you may have to build something similar.
The difference that you're hearing is not a sequence issue. it is simply (huh!) a case of velocity triggered layers (Brass over Strings) and zoned percussion (tymp +/or orchestral percusison) again with a velocity trigger.
Look again at how he is playing. He touches nothing but the keys after turning on the sequencer. You'll notice that the brass and perc come in as he hits harder or digs in a bit.
The string velocity range may be 0-127 (possibly with a cross fade at the highest velocity), Brass at the high end may be a cross-fade (~110) but is probably full on by v-117-127, same for temp/orch perc at the low end (v-124-127).
Near as I can tell he's showing how to make a quick sequence using a combi at this point in the demo -- he not using sequenced data to enhance what's played. All that is a good combination and a player who knows how to work it to show it's best face.
In fact, I haven't yet found the Hero March drum track pack on my keyboard. Is there any factory difference between to Korg Krome? I mean... does a Korg Krome come different from another one from the factory manufacturer? I tried to go through all of the available drum track packs on my Combi A ... I could find "The Orchestra" sound... great! But this Hero March I couldn't find that at all and I didn't find any other track that is very similar to it... I really liked the way he played and I wanna make a tutorial for my youtube visitors on my Youtube channel... Any more tips?
I'm so sorry to say this but I still haven't found this drum track on my Krome keyboard.
The drum track numbers go until G (something) and then it becomes a g*1 .. g*2.. etc.. there's no drum track P*** something on my keyboard here... What am I doing wrong? Is there any difference between some krome? I mean.. some come with a config system from Korg and some others don't..?
Drum TRACKS should be preset and user; P###, U###.
Drum KITS will go from Bank Numbers (ABC...) to GM (General Midi). There are minor variations in some kits depending on the number following g*1-g*2, etc.
The drum track consists of a pattern (track) and drum sound (kit).
Make sure you're looking at the drum track within the program or combination structure and not the associated kit. There should be lots of drum track patterns (not sure about Krome ~ 500+?) and relatively fewer pre-set kits and drums.
In this case the Kit should be orchestra and the recommended Track would be the "hero's march" mentioned in earlier posts.
