Unacceptable Download Speed on KORG.SHOP.COM. PLEASE HELP.

Post by SND4812 »

I have purchased the new Kronos Sound Pack. I got a link to download KRS-07 Sound Pack 3.0 and I downloaded it with acceptable speed. Additionally I got the License Keys for EXs17 SGX-2 and EXs18. Now I have to download the demo versions of both and enter the Keys on my device later.

But unfortunately the download speed for this ZIP file is so low that I don't think download will be finished in the next 100 days. Download Speed is at 16Kb/s (I have a 100 MBit/s line). Every Download I started ended after about 70 MB with an error message.

KORG: If you offer software in your e-shop: Please let the user not only pay for it but deliver the software!

PLEASE HELP!

Ya..I'm 5hrs into it and at 25%. Shows 78KB/sec. So that means I have another how many hours to go?
Well tomorrow is Saturday. So I guess I'll be playing all day :) :)

Yes, my download also stopped after several hours of waiting. This is terrible. I'm so pissed. Some people say that is because so many people are downloading. But every down load I have made from Korg has been very slow.

I am sorry but that is just crap on Korgs part. Especially after they have taken your money. Unbelievable. And then people have the audacity to say we should not complain. How do you get anything done in companies like this if you don't complain. People have lost site of the fact that they are the customer and it is up to the company to cater to them, not the other way around. I love my Kronos. Korg is a good company. But if something is not right it is not right. We can say so.

The download problem is coumpounded by the fact that both EXs17 and 18 together make a 5.2 Gb file to retrieve, meaning slots are not getting free after just a few minutes.

Whenever there is such a large file to download, Korg should put in place mirrors. There doesn't seem to be any in this case.

Are there any ideas?

The other problem is that anyone in the universe can d/l the demo

It should be restricted to registered Kronos owners on their site

But folks would complain about logging in, I suspect

I doubt anyone who doesn't have a Kronos would download a demo. Certainly it would be a very small minority. This is certainly annoying but it should be better after the first few days. This happens with many major software releases, certainly not just Korg.

First - I've sent the korg.com admins a note pointing out this issue.

As far as I can tell, no-one in this thread has told you not to complain. Unclear what you're referring to here. However, in general, it's probably better to be polite. My experience is that this works much better than ranting - especially if someone is just ranting on someone else's behalf. Outrage really isn't that useful in these cases, in my opinion. Just my 2 cents.

Actually, there should be two servers. One for those who buy the stuff, another for those who just want to install the demo.

Not to be mean to everybody else, but buyers should be rewarded with a fast download.

ETA on my download was 28 hours when I started. It was downloading for about 7 hours before I went to bed and I got 988mb of 5.2 gig downloaded at that point.

When I looked this morning to find out how much had downloaded overnight - it says download failed. I pressed the restart button and it has continued from where it left off thankfully, but I've still only got 1gb so far with the ETA now saying 31 hours.

I hate to moan because I think Korg are ace, and am thrilled to get the last update with all the extra features, but there's now a real possibility that a download I started on Friday evening may not complete by end of the weekend and that's just not acceptable...

Hopefully thanks to Dan, the download site now has separate downloads for the packages.

Download the EXs17 (Berlin D Grand) demo version <== 4.3 GB
Download the EXs18 (strings, choir, brass samples) demo version <== 860 MB

Good thing too, as I'm already on my 3rd attempt. First one failed due to network error, second one completed but had several files at 0kb.

EDIT:
KRS-07 will be ready for downloading after purchasing process of "New KRONOS Sound Pack". Demo mode is not available for KRS-07 before purchasing.

When you download such big packages, you must use a downloader so you can resume downloading instead of starting from scratch again.
