Do you know that for Kronos OS v3 ?

Post by AntonySharmman »

There is a great advantage in OS v.3 that I heard nobody to comment so far !
Better sample streaming management ...
Although I still use v.212 (better polyphony management), I'd observed from release days , that
streaming portion of waveforms was shorter , which means that a serious amount of Ram in
streaming mode is gained !
I'll give you an example of my saved notes for that :
For one custom SET of mine with PCM samples of approximately 18 GBs (with no factory resources loaded)
and 4 GBs installed Ram(3 recognized) , I had read in sample manager interface the following :

While on OS v.212 >> 1595 Mb size of preloaded portions of samples in Ram >> 331 Mb free Ram
While on OS v.302 >> 1256 Mb size of preloaded portions of samples in Ram >> 668 Mb free Ram

for the same custom samples ... that means , we gain 337 Mb of more Ram space in OS 3 , 20 % !
I Just remembered it today and write it down for anybody who might wanted to know that !

That is a great report. Thank you

I have always thought that Korg has worked hard in many areas to improve their product.

They obviously are light years ahead of any keyboard co when as pertains to sample streaming.

Faster boot time. More available RAM. Love it! :D

Good info. Seems that Korg was able to reduce the buffer amount for each sample loaded thus reducing RAM required and load/boot times. I recorded a 2:05 boot with the original PRELOAD.KSC which is at least :15 quicker than before.

Yes, good observation, thanks to Antony!
Boottime was the first thing i measured after installing OS3. But saving RAM for loading more samples is awesome, great work, Korg!
Best regards, Robert
