Voice stealing and polyphony issues with new OS update
I have noticed a significant increase in the voice stealing (polyphony) with the new OS. This is especially true with the updated SGX piano engine. I play is a duo that sequences everything and I have a lot of complex 14 - 16 track sequences. I noticed this when I updated a while back, but this weekend I played some songs that we haven't played in a while and the voice stealing was problematic. There is now doubt that polyphony has been affected. I turned off the meters and the string resonance and it helped only a little.
I had planned to get an new Kronos88 and go back to a one keyboard rig. It looks now like I will have to keep my K61 and use both. I have considered the audio recording option, but am not sure if I want to go there. I use very slight random timing variance in all sequences to obtain a more live feel. Recording will fix those tracks at the timing variance of the recording. Any ideas?

Not sure what you mean with the random timing variances, do you mean Karma is making them different every time? That would still only be four tracks per sequence, meaning you could bounce the rest to audio.

No, I don't use Karma in the sequences. I vary the timing and slightly detune some of the instruments (usually the horns and guitars) in order to get a more live and not mechanical feel. I have found that bouncing tracks to audio increases the time variance too much no matter how slight I have it engaged. I have never wished for a Kronos module until now, but that would be the best solution.

Re: Voice stealing and polyphony issues with new OS update
I've noticed this too, after the 3.0.2 .... the problem is on HD-1 mode too....
I did a lot of tests on PROG and COMBI modes .... to be 100%, I did a downgrade to 2.6 and use the same PROG / COMBIs...
The “voice stealing” / CPU usage" is really different.

I realize also the problem. I've loaded some old created sequences and in past they all play without a problem. Now you can hear many soundbreaks in the songs...
Does anybody have a solution for it?

Is this a side effect of what is mentioned in this thread?

if so then it needs to be selectable whether you want more free ram/less poly or less free ram/more poly.

I was beginning to believe that I was the only one experiencing quirks since the 3.0.2 update. In working on a large piece (using Sonar), I started hearing random - for lack of a better term - "thunks." I'd mute a track and the problem would disappear, then reappear later. I assumed this had something to do with voice stealing, but couldn't isolate the culprit.
I finally decided to revert back to the 2.1.2 OS and the problem disappeared. There is definitely a glitch in the latest update. I hope it gets resolved because I really liked the piano resonance capability with the new OS.

I've experienced the voice stealing issue after upgrading to 3.02 on an original Kronos 61 expanded to max RAM (second SSD is in the works since I'm now maxxed out after downloading the Berlin grand). I've minimized the occurrences by using all the optimizations I've posted elsewhere. I'm also hopeful Korg will release an update that reduces or gets rid of this issue.
