I actually just moved this past week so haven't gotten a chance to run it through it's paces...but...don't wait for me! This is a limited run of 1000 units (of which 700) are scheduled to ship to the US...mine is SN#91MemorY wrote:Let me know what you think of it! I'm thinking about getting it as well!

yes it is a shame, conundrum:
more than the allotted amount are in demand so lots of users don't get one - this is a pity but drives up the price of 2nd hand, you know for a fact that a lot of gearheads are buying this and wont keep it either because they suffer lust or wont give it the time to truly appreciate it
those that genuinely buy into the limited amount get screwed when the run becomes less limited so its not so exclusive anymore - of course these users still get an excellent synth package - (I wish I was one of these)
a later release is announced with updates - again screwing the "1000" limited users - this lowers the price of second hand which is ideal
I recently bought the mini - I am over the moon with it and will never sell it, I always wanted an MS20 and really hope my mini lasts the years, do I want the kit? yes I bloody well do but I am not going to sell my mini to buy it. this means I won't get the kit unfortunately . I damn well would have waited had I known the kit would have 1/4 inch jacks and all those extra patch points

Man...
And the thing is that I'm relatively new to music and have been making sounds and everything in my computer.
I came across it and was loving the idea of analog and patching and I've been reading up on it like crazy. I just love the idea. But I'd kinda feel bad for buy this and not letting one of those users who'd truly appreciate it (not that I wouldn't) because of the history and whatnot and possibly not get one...

dude if you've got the cash and like it get it. plus its got to be so rewarding putting it together - I know its just a bolt up exercise but still.
hell if I hadn't bought the mini then the 1k is nothing simply because of the equipment you are getting - its a lot of cash but for the gear and the longevity its a steal.
but yeah, damn you korg lol

I might have it. I just need to re-adjust my funds. I've been saving up for some stuff (ring, school, etc).
And ya, the assembly does look simple.
So I hope that I can get this amazing piece of kit!
We still love you Korg!

The assembly was indeed lots of fun and very cool. Took me a couple hours, but I went super slow and very careful not to scratch anything. It was really just a matter of putting the completed components together...what they used to call "final assembly" when I worked at Apple back in the 80's. But I think it definitely added to the "cool" factor...I "built" it (even though I didn't "make" it
As far as the limited edition run of 1000, I'm pretty sure it is referring to this MS20 desktop/SQ-1 package, I didn't see anything about the MS20 full size kybd kit being limited edition also. The only place I know of that is currently shipping the desktop package in the US is Sweetwater, though other online dealers like Musicians Friend show it as "coming soon". Just for fun I took a look at other online dealers and there's one in Australia that says it's only accepting orders until 2/28/15 which tells me this is the 1000 limited edition model. I also read that 700 are going to the US and 300 to other countries.
I chose this MS20 because though I've been into analog synths since '78 (my 1st was a Sequential Pro One) I've always wanted but never owned a real hardware modular. I figured the "semi-modular" would be a great way to try out the concept and if I liked it, I could always start building my own modular that could also interface with the MS20

This would be my first hardware/analog synth.
Ya. I'm really debating on buying it right now... I want to so badly... My girlfriend and parents say I should wait... My buddies say I should... *sigh* I want to. SO BAD!!!!
You should post some videos of you just messing around with it!
