Triton Extreme Leaving
Hey folks I'm asking this here because I know some of you may have done this. I am going to let my TX go and purchase a Kronos.
What I need is some feedback as to what is a good price for an 88 key in mint condition with the Moss installed and upgraded memory and a Gator semi hard case. I know it will vary but and what I would like to get but I want some opinions from people who have done this or know people who have!
Thanks
Patrick

+1.
Craigslist or Ebay will get you a better price than GC which will have to buy at a very low price (to you) in order to make back their money with a lowball sale.
MOSS being both out of production and fairly rare, you might do better to sell that separately, and the TX in "stock" form with case and any extras (like the extra sounds found in the download section here) on a USB drive.
That might be worth a couple of hundred dollars more.

Re: Triton Extreme Leaving
I sold my 76 ( it was flawless, never gigged) w/MOSS, no case, with original factory box, all receipts, max ram on CL for $1700 cash in 2011.PatrickD wrote:Hey folks I'm asking this here because I know some of you may have done this. I am going to let my TX go and purchase a Kronos.

while its a great board, it has not reached ' collectible ' status .
I doubt I could get that high price today.
I think you have to study the used market on ebay for pricing.
what I like about CL is that if you have the only Extreme advertised locally , you could sell it in 2-3 weeks. Selling on CL has its hassles, so you have to take some steps to filter out the noise to find the serious buyer.

PatrickD- Who am I to say this, I know! I'm sure you've battled through your OWN decision to come up with what you need. I, of course, respect that. I do have a Kronos88 and chose to keep my TEX88/Moss. Kronos covers so much ground in comparison, of course. It's just that there's still something special about the TREX; and combined with Moss distinct character and uniqueness, is unparalleled until it dies! Route one through the other via s/pdif for possibilities, etc. The Kronos and TREX/Moss combo compliment each other so well!! I read the title and cringed at the thought of a future regret (if I was the one forced between the two). So, just in case you're having cold feet- I'm the little man on your right shoulder, offering support if you really want to keep it, but may not be able to for some other reason. That's just me! In any event, you definitely won't be downgrading with the Kronos! Kronos '2' looks awesome! Good luck!- T.
Thank you for your replies I am living in a time of future electronic wonder and denigration in older units. I don't want to wait for the Trex to go wrong and be sitting on a repair bill. I can sell it with a clean conscience now but maybe not down the road. I will attempt the craigslist in my area because I have not seen one advertised in a long time.
Thanks again for your opinions. All are valued believe me!

I think this is a wise move. I understand keyboardists are reluctant to part with gear that has been great for them.PatrickD wrote:Thank you for your replies I am living in a time of future electronic wonder and denigration in older units. But since we are talking about the Kronos, that is a board that will occupy your time and imagination for a long time. And its a necessity for most of us to find a way to fund a Kronos purchase.
Ebay in general will get you a better price and sell faster as a much wider base market. Research the "sold" items in the advanced search menu. This will give you best "Buy it Now" price to ask and tack on estimated shipping cost... but then make the auction "Free Shipping". The way the market currently is, if you don't sell it in a day or two, slowly bring the price down until it sells. Downfall, you have to box and ship it... but no biggie.
CL is great too, but from my experience... in the past couple years, you have to price it too far under a fair market value that you really want. Most folks who search CL are for items in the general area you live and majority of sellers are not willing to ship.... which in return, makes the market far less broader than ebay. You can always post it on CL for a couple days and see how it does... but be careful of the loonies.
Good luck,
Andreuz

its a trade off. ebay purchases can be disputed and shipping can be the culprit.Andreuz wrote:Ebay in general will get you a better price and sell faster as a much wider base market. when I sold on CL, I did not mind deducting the various ebay fees to arrive at the " CL price ". and I prefer cash any day vs a paypal payment which can get held up.
Unfortunately, musical items are selling for far less on CL in the last couple years, that is a fact. I am not saying you won't sell it on CL, chances of selling for a higher price are far greater on ebay.GregC wrote:its a trade off. ebay purchases can be disputed and shipping can be the culprit.Andreuz wrote:Ebay in general will get you a better price and sell faster as a much wider base market. Won't debate it with you since your experience might be recent.Andreuz wrote:Unfortunately, musical items are selling for far less on CL in the last couple years, that is a fact. In 2011 , I sold a XS7, korg m3m, Rd700gx1, 76 extreme and a mackie onyx , all on CL.
To get a fair cash price and a serious buyer did take 3-4 weeks on CL. The CL seller has to put up with a lot of noise to hopefully find his customer.
Ebay and PayPal has changed their policies and become more buyer friendly, thus creating more potential issues if the buyer was slightly dissatisfied for whatever reason.

The kronos 2 is the latest/greatest. The owners who just got them seem very happy with the keys.PatrickD wrote:Thanks Greg I think your right and all of you are helping me get this done. One other thing are we now past the key bed issue? Is Kronos X a safe buy?
The X model , for new, is the prior model. I think it was launched in late 2012. My guess is that Korg solved any prior keybed issue with the X model
Are u getting the X new or used ?
