I was browsing for some good Brass sounds for Kronos, and i ended up with this youtube...
http://youtu.be/-qJ3vlikMrQ
Why isnt this on th list of official Kronos ESX dealers, the quallity sounded quite good, even for a youtube video, i love how he does nuance co trolling...
However, some sounds are called DNC sounds in the video. Now from my knowledge PA3x has DNC sounds, and they also use legato play for changing nuances, as far as i know, Kronos does not support recognition of legato play.
So why are these voices called DNC voices? Are they copies of PA3x voices?
And from a broader pov, does anyone have experience with this company? They seem to have an 11 GB pack containing all their voices...

Wavesarts is run by our member AnthonySharman (sp?). Dunno why he isn't on the official page by Korg but he is an approved merchant on here. There has been some discussion before on his use of the terms "articulation" and "DNC" I believe. They're not the same as on PA3X but I believe he has put a lot of work into them.

Or you can raise your products price by 30% when selling trough Korgs website..StephenKay wrote:Last time I checked, Korg takes 30% of sales revenues if you want to be an "official" seller of sounds on their website. 30% does not seem unfair to me, its what apple uses in their succesfull model, and its a lot of free advertisement you get when your songs are there...
On top of that, your investment is protected against piracy if i am correct when you sell it trough the apple EXs program?
But then in the end its a choice, and having a choice is allways a good thing.

So you would be essentially "using" Korg to promote your product on their website, giving it wider exposure and the implied "endorsement", and then undercutting them by selling it cheaper directly? Hmmm...Bachus wrote:Or you can raise your products price by 30% when selling trough Korgs website..StephenKay wrote:Last time I checked, Korg takes 30% of sales revenues if you want to be an "official" seller of sounds on their website. I'm not sure that Korg would allow that, or look kindly on it - but I could be wrong.
Never said it was "unfair", merely pointed it out.30% does not seem unfair to me, its what apple uses in their succesfull model, and its a lot of free advertisement you get when your songs are there...
Bachus. I bought the complete Kronos library from Wavesart - guitars, vintage keyboards, strings, brass and vocals, pianos. For me the sounds are both outstanding and very playable (articulations etc). Further, Antony is always responsive and helpful whenever I ask him a question. I'm afraid I can't answer your question 're PX3, but Wavesart get a big thumbs up from me. Trust thats useful to you.
There is no KORG DNC Technology inside the KRONOS.However, some sounds are called DNC sounds in the video. Now from my knowledge PA3x has DNC sounds, and they also use legato play for changing nuances, as far as i know, Kronos does not support recognition of legato play.

He's playing with the meaning of the words from the point of view of imply that the sounds are setup to make use of the controllers, zones, layers and everything else HD-1 does.
So, it's not actual KORG DNC Technology, it's simply a play on the meaning of the words.

Sharp.

Bachus, there is few of us here that are Approved Merchants but not part of Korg's Kronos Library, i am not there either.
As far as DNC goes its another story, there is no such a thing as DNC on Kronos, my Sounds are all DNC too by play of meaning.

In the HD1 its possible to change nuances/articulations by using switches...
Knowing who is behind such an unofficial website is very important, i remember Sherman as being quite active and open over the years here on the Korg Forums.. And his complete pack seems like one of the more affordable packs, and very usefull...
Actually i am very surprised to see how much quallity expansion packs are available.. (grins) and now while wayting on the delivery of my Kronos88 i am allredy starting to worry if everything will fit in the free memmory banks... there is a lot of stuff i might want to get my hands on...

Well you are right to a point but DNC is a little different then just controlling the Sounds with some Buttons and Switches.
In DNC Sound can be altered also with the Speed of playing, the way you connect 2 notes and other things which Kronos can not do.
And yes, Anthony is always active here.

Which makes you wonder why legato play isnt in the Kronos yet, as Korg has sown us they mastered the technique in their Pa3x..BasariStudios wrote:Well you are right to a point but DNC is a little different then just controlling the Sounds with some Buttons and Switches.

And some ensemble programming in the future... Currently having a lot of fun, of sending the 4 parts of my Tyros ensemble voices over midi to the synth sounds of the Integra 7, cant wayt to do the same with Kronos sounds..
But thats another discussion....
I allways wondered why Korg never continued with the more open system of the Oasys, they where one development set away from allowing 3rd party synthengines on the Kronos.. And taking 30 cents of every dollar...

Korg Italy develops the PA line, it's a branch operating almost entirely independently from Korg Japan/USA, at least from a design standpoint.
I think the closed system is a lot safer, and it's part of the appeal of a live board for me. It's easy to envision a Kronos with added 3rd party synths. A lot harder to subject such a system to rigorous testing with all possible permutations.
There are already open systems, they're called computers. Mostly, they work great, but there's a reason they haven't replaced hardware synths in live situations on a grand scale.

I agree with you... Might be safer... But then, i think expandabillity was the point of the oasys.. It never happened on a large scale because they kept it all in house with a relatively small engineering staffSanderXpander wrote:Korg Italy develops the PA line, it's a branch operating almost entirely independently from Korg Japan/USA, at least from a design standpoint.

Which brings me to another point, if Korg Japan and Korg itally shared resources, they both might acomplish more and faster....
When you look at Yamaha, they have a team that developes all technollogy, adn another team that developes content(this one mostly hired on project base) and small instrument development teams that all use the technollogy and content developed by tye core team... Which in the end might be more efficient, espescially where the fact that both Korg Japan as well as Korg Italy are struggling because their development teams are to small.
But then... Korg has Kronos... While Yamaha rules the Arranger market (in salesnumber) ...

The KRONOS is the further development of the OASYS.Bachus wrote:I allways wondered why Korg never continued with the more open system of the Oasys,

Just like the iTunes Store and App Stores, yes. Every developer that I've spoken with about this regarded it as very fair; some have been surprised that it was so low.Bachus wrote:And taking 30 cents of every dollar...

Those 30 cents indeed are fair and make a great buiseness model, i meant that Korg should have made more use of it.. But then they might in the future.. As inam a firm believer that only third party developers can make products more diverse.. Really hope they listen to the wishes of those who create that great content...danatkorg wrote:The KRONOS is the further development of the OASYS.Bachus wrote:I allways wondered why Korg never continued with the more open system of the Oasys,
