Electribe 2... audio input
I'm sure this has been answered, but I can't find the thread...
I'm trying to control my micrbrute via MIDI and have the output sent through the electribe so I can hear both devices from one output. But I can't get the microbrute's audio to come through on the electribe. Its a mystery! I'm using a stereo/mono adapter... any advice? help?

1. Plug the cable into Audio In. Under Global, set Audio Thru to On. Make sure your volume is up on the Brute, and the Input Level knob is up. This path goes directly to the output of the E2, and works like a little mixer. It does not go through the effects.
2. Plug those cables. Turn Audio Thru to Off. Set a part's Oscillator type to Audio In. Turn up the Input Level Knob. Adjust the oscillator edit up - this is another gain stage. Your audio now goes through the filter, the modulation, the insert effect, and the master effect. But you have to have the sequencer running, with all the steps tied.
If you are sending the Brute MIDI from the e2, make sure the MIDI is on the same channel as the Brute, and on the same channel as the Audio In Oscillator part.

Like Ted3000 is saying you want to make sure you're triggering on the electribe2 to open the gate for the audio. Also remember, based on your MIDI Input and Ouput filter settings and if you're tweaking knobs on either the microbrute or electribe2 you may also be tweaking parameters like filter, level, pitch, etc. on the other machine as well. Can get confusing.
You'll figure it out. With multiple devices to configure, it can get complicated fast. More MIDI, More Problems.sloan11 wrote:I got it to work with Audio thru. Thanks!
Still trying to get it without Audio thru.. and I managed to lose my MIDI capabilities somewhere along the way. Sigh.
Just remember that each of the 16 parts on the electribe has a MIDI channel. The top left pad is channel 1, etc.
I figured a few things out. Or at least one, for sure. I can run either of the audio input configurations, and I can sync via MIDI after a bit of tinkering. Some thanks is due to you guys. But... one of the problems I was having is this: after syncing up my devices, I would use my touch pad to set the Master FX, and that automatically disables the MIDI message, and the brute falls out of sync. Why would this happen? Is there anyway around this? I don't think there is any other way to manipulate master FX, is there?
I should try some of the other touch features to see if they also disable the MIDI connection....

I control a Microbrute via midi too, as well as a few other things and this certainly doesn't happen in my set up. Odd.sloan11 wrote:I figured a few things out. Or at least one, for sure. I've got the same issue! As soon as I touch the fx pad, midi out to my microbrute gets lost. Anyone else?sloan11 wrote:I figured a few things out. Or at least one, for sure. Hi guys
I'm running into trouble using audio in :
1. Plug the cable into Audio In. Under Global, set Audio Thru to On. Set a part's Oscillator type to Audio In : It's working fine
2. Plug those cables. Turn Audio Thru to Off. Set a part's Oscillator type to Audio In. Turn up the Input Level Knob : No sound coming out
Does anyone got an idea ? thanks

Press the Sequencer button and light up all the steps for each bar, then go to Step Sequencer in menu and tie all of the steps together. The OSC edit knob (think that's what it's called, I don't have mine to hand) acts as a volume knob when OSC is set to Audio In.Catzilla wrote:Hi guys

Sorry, step edit is what I meant, I didn't have my electribe handy.
Good tip, I wasn't aware of that but will give it a go, tying all the steps together is a pain in the ass, especially on a four bar pattern.bloomes wrote:you can tie the notes in step edit menu. tie is the last value in step length. Anyway, it is much more faster when you record a long sustained note (it is automatically tied).
Have you lit up all pads in sequencer mode and pressed play?bloomes wrote:Ok, got it. In step menu gate time set to tie but still the same and the electribe is receiving sounds as shown on the display
