As much as I love my Zero 4, I have never been able to use it for anything other than practicing at home because the hiss problem is so severe on all of the analogue outputs (other than headphones, which are crystal-clear). I've been thinking about getting an external DAC with balanced outputs, like the Teac UD-H01, but I'd like to find out if there was ever any resolution to the hiss issue.
My tech guy took the mixer apart and says that the problem appears to be in the DAC chip itself. Was there ever a later revision of the Zero 4 where the issue was fixed? Are there multiple revisions of the DAC chip? Or did anyone discover that the problem was in a power supply component etc? I'm just curious, the problem is 8 years old now and I wonder if a smarter cookie than myself ever narrowed it down to one issue.
Zero 4 Hiss - Any resolution?
