How is the iPad used with the 900
Can the iPad be used with the 900? And if so with what app? Is there a value in using an iPad with the 900. Yamaha use it to avoid using screens on there units keeping the costs down, but what is korgs reasoning?
Just wondering before I invest.
Cheers

It can be used for various things but not as a monitor for your touch screen.
There are lots of apps that work well.
The main app that Korg are supporting on the Korgpa.com site is the Songbook+ app that allows you to sync say a pdf file (lyrics or score) on your ipad with the Korg. It will load the pdf (say on Songbook selection or the other way around by choosing the song on the ipad) but it won't scroll along with the lyrics or anything like that. This app looks a little pricey.
I have the unrealBook app which is an outstanding score/lyrics app and is quite cheap. It has midi in and out commands so I'm pretty sure it will work with Songbook but I haven't tried it yet.
There are lots of free and paid music apps that will work well with the Korgs. Garage Band for example - a free app -is pretty good. Most of the sound apps are pretty basic and while a single note might sound nice they rarely have any expression.
I have the Korg Module which is basically a sound library extension (including a gigabytye size piano (with the Ivory extension). I have a lot of fun with this app and the sounds are very good including some expressive pianos, wurlys, nice organs with controllable rotary, but the biggest downside is the limited polyphony with the pianos (something like 18 notes on the Air 2).
You need the apple Camera Connection Kit (about $35) to allow you to connect your rear USB device port to the iPad.
I think the future of ipad/tablet connection to keyboard will be amazing but we are not there yet. There are new Bluetooth Le midi connection devices just starting to hit the market that will do away with connection cords and will allow you to continue to charge your ipad while connecting via bluetooth midi.
I understand the Pa900 has video out as standard so this would work with a laptop (with the right converters/adaptors) but not with iPad. Apple have no provision for direct video input into an iPad. Bad Apple.
Cheers,
John

John, thanx mate for the info, I don't think I'll invest into apple. I'm basically a pianist with a 900 and recently tested the yam p255 and was thinking of using the p255 controller app. Until I ran it thru the 900 midi connect, after that experience I ended up returning the p255. The korg piano voices played with the Yamaha p255 was awesome. The feel of the yam with the korg voices was brilliant - so I'll probably buy the Havian. Those korg piano voices are just great - take note Mr Yamaha.

I use my Pa900 exactly with SongBook+ app. I am pretty satisfied with it. When I select a song from the iPad on the keyboard I send a command (each PDF has a code) to the other band members (guitarist and singer) and they don't need to search the song. It can work in opposite direction. This app also can control the guitar processor of our guitarist.
In other words - If you use the full features (options) of this app, it costs every cent.

Hi all, I have been trying to figure out how to use forscore with the Korg Pa900 songbook, so that the appropriate songbook entry is selected when I open each song.
I cannot find any instructions on this. I have bought the Camera Connection and USB A to B cable. I can see the MIDI section for each score in forscore. But I have not been able to achieve the desired result.
Any help would be appreciated, including pointing me to the appropriate resource if it exists.
Many thanks
