Step Backing Sequence using a DAW

Post by gevik »

Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to create a Step Backing Sequence on a KorgPa3x using a external DAW. Pa3X's user interface for entering a complete song is very cumbersome and time consuming.

Thank you.

I've been experimenting with using Steinberg's Cubase 8 Elements and their CHORD track, and sending the PC commands for the various style elements. I currently have the 30 day trial
- seem to do the trick for me
- I recorded an MP3 backing track

I'd like to move this "project" to Cubasis on the iPad and see if I can do the same thing, but I don't think there is an equivalent to the CHORD track

let me know if there are any other ideas out there

After doing some readying, I stumbled upon page 188 of the "Advanced Edit Manual v110.pdf" It describes a chart of MIDI CC functions to change style elements. I guess this is the key to have an external sequencer play an song using PA's internal styles.

I am going to experiment with this a little and see how it turns out.

My goal is to do the song editing on Logic Pro X and use Pa3X as an external soundmodule+cool styles. The sounds Pa3X produces will be routed back to Logic as an audio track which will be recorded separately.
