A couple Electribe 2 questions

Just got me an Electribe 2, and it strikes me as pretty damn awesome. Except it froze on me within a few hours of buying it. I had a beat going and triggered a synth if I remember correctly, and it hung on me. I had to unplug it from the wall. I seem to have OS version 1.05 which is weird since it looks like 1.03 is the latest. Would downgrading to 1.03 help with the freezing? I'm also experiencing the infamous pattern gap problem.

Also this question seems extremely remedial but I can't for the life of me figure it out with Google or the manual. What's the USB cable for? I've read you can't use it to interface with Ableton Live so what exactly does it do...?

You can MIDI sync with Ableton and other apps via the USB cable if you want.

I've had a few freezes on 1.03 as well, so I don't think downgrading will help. There's a new OS update due out soon supposedly.
