Mid 60s combo organs - not there yet

Post by JPROBERTLA »

Special gig coming up where we need to play 3 Animals songs (long story). I could not find a suitable organ sound in my K2-88. I tried Purgatory Creek and The Korg Transistors program bank. No success. I finally built my own program using internal samples and common sense, as I actually had a Vox Continental and Farfisa Compact for a short time in 1968, so I know what they are supposed to sound like. My program is OK, but its hard to believe that this gave me and the Kronos so much trouble. While I am no sound designer, it seems like this is something that should be easy to emulate with a keyboard as powerful as the Kronos.

While doing some research on the Farfisa, I found that the waveforms for some of the stops are filtered square waves. Interesting, to say the least. More research might yield some insights.

I believe that is Purgatory Creek.
