Electribe sampler crash / Export function (after slicing)

Post by Sommerfeldt »

Hi guys!
Im new to this forum so flame me if this have been mentioned before.

I recently bought The Electribe sampler as a supplement to the Electribe for slicing my own loops in it, but since day one some problems oocured:

OK .. here it goes.
I have imported my samples in (mono) approx length between 4 - 6 seconds each sample (3 minutes in total)
I have altso removed all the built in samples so i can get maximum use of the 270 seconds.
The "export all" function works , but the real problem starts when i start to slice those samples.
After slicing them, i hit the "export all" button again , and the system crashes!
Everytime!
The same happens if i export them individually .
I even bought a highspeed 16 gig SDHC card for the occasion!
As for now the machine fails completely for its use so i would really like to know what the problem might be...
Anyone know?
Thanks in advance.

That's strange. I have created tons of sliced samples and saved / saved all with no problem.
What are you using to create your wav loops? Maybe there's something funny with the bitrate or header info or something. Try different wavs or re-export the ones you have.
Just a thought..
Hope you get it figured out.

Did you have installed the latest update (1.06)?

I use ableton 9 standard for exporting.

Format: Wav
Sample rate 44.100
Bitdepth 16
I altso convert the samples to mono in the process (for saving space)

I have installed the 1.06 update.

OK ... so I would try it with another sd card. If I remember correctly, another forum member had similar problems when saving samples. A new sd card fixed it.

This will be my third SD card then  Which one do you use?

I have this one now.

I know this sounds strange, but I had tested a lot of different sd cards with the E2S and got the best (and fastest!) results with "true" sd cards in the 1-2 GB range. Sometimes slower is faster ;-)

I've spent my first few frustrating hours with my Electribe Sampler grappling with this slice and export all issue.

If i importe a sample, CHANGE ITS START OR END POINTS, then timeslice, the unit would hang when carrying out an Export All Samples operation.

But, importing a sample, timeslicing it, then Export All Samples works fine. Problems only occur when changing start or end points THEN timeslicing.

Hmmm....

I will try to replicate that issue and see what happens for me.
I've done timeslicing and I've changed start/end times, but I don't think I've combined the two on one sample.

Also, about the cards, I'm using 4 different cards all various sizes and quality, and they all work for me.

Cards that work for me: Lexar 512mb, Sandisk extreme plus 32gb micro sd HC I in a Sandisk adapter, sandisk ultra plus 16gb sd HC I (48 mb/sec) and a cheap verbatim 16gb sd HC 300x 45mb/sec.

Maybe we should get a list going of cards that work fine and cards that don't.

Just tried it and it worked fine for me... After I edit my sample I hit write to save the edits to the sample. Then exported and it works fine.
After setting a sample to time slice the start, end, and loop points become unavailable. I'm not sure if setting time slice after setting start/end preserves those points or ignores them.

Good luck!

The problem arose after changing start/end points, writing, then timeslicing. Problem persisted with two different SD cards which work fine on every other occasion.

It's not a big issue for me, now that I know what causes the problem, I will just prepare my samples differently on my ipad before I feed them to the sampler. But I would be interested if anybody else can replicate this problem.

So.. change start/end points, hit WRITE, then timeslice, hit WRITE again, then Export All Samples.

Tried it just like you said... worked fine.
Then I found out my OS is 1.05. I never updated. Doh!
Maybe the new OS update is the problem.
Is there a way to revert to 1.05 after updating?

I'm not sure. But thanks for trying it out. Anybody else?

WARNING: make sure you've backed up your data because on every occasion this happened to me, it was a case of pulling out a battery and switching back on to a sampler with no samples in it. The e2sample.all file on the card got corrupted.
