Finally Got An Electribe Sampler ES2

Post by Proppa »

Hello all - thought I'd share this:

I finally got an ES2 and could not be happier.

I'm thinking the OS alone has (temporarily) kept the new Electribes in semi "ghost mode" in terms of being fully appreciated and recognized. These units have a surprisingly quiet online profile.

While the ES2 file management is indeed a chore I still feel more connected to this machine than I have to 3 different MPC models and the computer / world of software.
My goal has been to get off the computer as much as possible which has proved Much trickier to properly satiate than I'd anticipated.

Workflow-wise the Volca Sample might be the definitive king (for me at least) and it's a shame that the ES2 doesn't embrace the same blueprint but the Electribe is not Too far behind.
Hopefully there will be further OS updates and advances will be made.

So a few notes from my time so far with the ES2:

* There's a good chance your local retailer might beat typical online prices: mine did which I didn't anticipate after years of buying online only.

* As a Mac guy I forked out $10 for the Sample Manager For Electribe Sampler ( http://appshopper.com/mac/utilities/sam ... be-sampler ) which instantly earned it's worth: I can explore my vast sample libraries and hand build sample sets with a sense of overview and no fuss.

* The under-unit lights drove me batty and I was planning on taping those off but running the ES2 in Low Power mode is a perfect fix.

* The ES2 form factor is a thing of beauty: really solid and a near-perfect size. I was anticipating a compromise with the pads but so far love em.

* Multiple Pad Banks would be lovely but Motion-Sequence recording and re-sampling sold me on this unit.

At this point I can't wait for the workflow to become second nature though even as I often refer to the manual and info online it's been a pleasure to learn. If you love sampling and are at all on the fence about the ES2 I say got for it full on.

Yeah man IM loving my grey E2 hacked edition Sampler hahah

Have you managed to resample a full pattern without having to stop by yourself the sampling?

You can't put a cease or desist on common knowledge.

Anyway, they don't need it. They could just pull the plug. This forum is hosted by them right?

It's pretty ridiculous.
Having one device that switches between two would never had met my needs, I always intended on running two together.

The bigger picture for this is that I cant see any benefit for the forum itself. The normal criticism has been against korg to ignore user communication. This will help?

I'm expecting some form of "cease and desist" request to be submitted to the forum mods if it hasn't already.
It's not at all crippled. All you have to do is avoid loading samples into a few slots, and it behaves (and is, for all intents and purposes) a electribe sampler.

The worst case scenario? You load samples into some "forbidden" slots, and a few dozen samples duplicate under different names in the 300 range. Not exactly a showstopper.
