|
|
Dear fellow Tritonians,
Tonight, I am going to discuss the possibility to give my Triton Studio 61 a "wood-finish" with the owner of this company:
http://www.rbcguitars.com
I got this idea from this site:
http://www.zenriffer.com
Yes, I am going to try to replace the silver-coloured metal & plastic with a nice wooden touch (except for the bottom plate).
Does anyone know if this has been done before and where to find proof of this ? Any tips are welcome.
p.s. I already know 2 things for sure:
1. My warranty (already) is null and void
2. This is going to be heavy...in many ways
Greetz,

Allright, I went to the technician yesterday and came up with the following:
The hood is going to be disassembled and a woodfinish will be applied: veneer. This is a very thin wood material, which comes in different colours and shapes.
The middle part will be light veneer, the sides will be a dark wood veneer. on the backside, the charcaters "KORG", "triton"and "studio" will be replaced by abalone finishing materiaal
(This is just a past & glue special example )
Greetz and thanks for your interest so far ; more to follow! _________________ "The Answer Lies in the Music" |

I am not concerned for 3 reasons:
1. I have another triton studio as an example of how the keys have to be placed back
2. I photographed the whole assembleprocess from the beginning, all wires, knobs, screws ect
3. the inside may LOOK difficult, but after disassembling the triton, I discovered that the machine mainly exists out of 6 big parts.
But thank you for your concern, I appreciate that! _________________ "The Answer Lies in the Music" |

thnx for your comment
The reason not to do the ribbon/joystickpart is because it is reasonably attached to the main board within. I didn't dare to go THAT far
Further on, my main purpose was to show something of on the front and partly upperside, which goal is reached.
At last, I paid around 300 euro's for it:
First, a expensive woodlayer was applied and pressed on
Then a layer of laque was applied and sanded to make a flas surface
A layer of liquid glass then was applied and sanded again
at last, a new coating was applied en polished to make it strong and shiney
so, in paid hours, it was a bargain...totally unneccesary off course, but soooo beautiful _________________ "The Answer Lies in the Music" |

and now you can go into business!! Even consider making pre cut kits with instructions!!!
and you aren't limited to just one type of keyboard. You could write the different manufacturers for their specs and who knows?? _________________ We came.

I could go entrepeneural in this, except for 2 things:
1. I am very busy (read, lazy)
2. The guy who actually does this is going to charge about 900 euro's.It is not much considering the fact that you get a one piece limited edition, but , altough not expensive, it is still a lot of money
But tnx for your support _________________ "The Answer Lies in the Music" |

Very nice work JCROY -could be a collectors item - one day!
you've got more patience (and ingenuity) than me, as mine still looks very "silverish:)
