These are shown on the OASYS, but should be identical to Kronos. Everybody knows that the pianos are great, so these emphasize synth sounds:
STR-1, AL-1, MS-20 demos
MOD-7 and PolySix demos
Thanks to Kevin Nolan and Karo Sound Development for a few of these! |

Thanks a lot for the demos and taking the time to put them on youtube!
That certainly helps to get first impressions.
One thing kept me wondering, and allow me to ask about that without feeling attacked (not at all my intention!):
I noticed that the two most sought after categories of todays music, namely
a) warm, fat or lush Vintage type VA sounds from leads over basses to pads and polysynths
b) modern electronica sounds
were not too present in those patches.
Instead there were a lot of "FM-Type" sounds even in the VA type synths: lots of bell/xylophon type stuff and cold metallic or digital sounding stuff.
This was not only the case in your examples, but I found the same stuff in other OASYS user audios and videos.
So the overall impression to me, how shall I name it, sounded a bit like "stuck in th 80s", if you understand what I mean.
As it is clear from the specs and from some other examples of the same VAs (AL-1, MS-20, Polysix), these engines should be well capable of rendering the above named a) and b) type sounds. But I hear much more of that kind from actual software synths of the Arturia type for a) and from other softsynths for b), and even from VA hardware synths like the Access TI (which I play) I get much more of both (not only b, but also a).
So what concerns me a bit is the type of synth patch programming I might find in a Kronos. I personally have practically no use for lots of bell type or metallic sounding presets and/or combis (the metallic atmosphere/landscape type).
I am MUCH more after a) and b) type sounds, and as many as possible.
And I guess that counts for lots of users.
Of course I know nobody should generalize based on some chosen Oasys examples. And we both don't even know the Kronos patches, as far as they may be programmed fresh (or do you?)
That's why I ask. |

Hi,
be assured it is VERY easy to get these sounds. If I find the time and there is interest I will record a demo.

Hi Peter,
would be great to hear some of that if it is not too much time troube for you.
I guess it's not only for me but for many users who have the same questions about the Kronos workstation in practical everyday use.
Thanks for caring! |

Oh yes, that helps a lot!
Thank you very much, Mike!
I already began feeling odd asking crititical questions before even owning or testplaying a Korg, but gratefully I wasn't misunderstood. |
