I'm looking to purchase a used Korg Triton ProX 88, but have 3 questions...

1) Do I need to purchase special software that's compatible with the board to be able to transfer audio to my PC and edit?

2) It does not come with the original preload disks. How important is it to have these? Is it possible to purchase these?

3) Suggestions on external speakers?

Thanks much, guys!!

You'll need a USB audio interface and recording software for your PC. You can purchase those items from any pro music store.

You can download the original Triton soundset from this website.

Download section is here:

Most people use powered studio monitors or a small PA.

This is what I'm currently using in my studio (Yamaha StagePas 300):

THANK YOU! I can't seem to find the preload disks... Preload program disk TNFD-00P and TNFD-01P, but thanks again for the quick response! Very much appreciated.

Small PA speakers focus on high volume (pressure) and monitor mainly focus on accurate sound. Depends on what you are looking for.

JP -

My first instinct would have been to direct you to the download section... but (surprise to me) the factory disks don't seem to be there. Which leads me to to think that there may be a "restore" function, at least in the latest OS version -- most likely a hold this or that and power on (? manual). There are likely a couple of routines; restore, initialize, erase all, etc. so be careful. Also doing any of these will effectively erase or overwrite all of your changes so save a copy of your stuff before doing anything else.

You might also want to look at the (xxFD - factory disk) PCG files for the Studio or Rack (which are pretty much identical as far as ABC programs and AB combis) as an alternative.

JP,

Factory data can be found here:

http://www.korguksupport.co.uk/Page.cfm?PageId=351#Sound%20Data

FYI, Korg UK Support is the other great resource for info and downloads for Korg gear.
